We will be carrying out fitting and operational trials on a new type of trailer bearing protection system also from Australia.This new approach to the problem of wheel bearings and salt water allows the air in the bearing to contract as the trailer enters the water. In all other systems water and dirt is sucked into the bearing starting the corrosion process which leads to bearing failure. In this new system the bearings run in oil which is visible from the outside and a diaphragm allows for the rapid change in pressure as a warm bearing enters water or is exposed to dense road spray from surface water.
