OVERVIEW

RECOVERIT is a white synthetic granule that is capable of strongly adsorbing all types of oils. There are several distinguishing factors that make RECOVERIT a superior product amongst its competitors for cleaning ocean and land oil spills. Undeniably the most impressive factor is that both the RECOVERIT and the oil can be 100% recycled allowing RECOVERIT to be reapplied to a spill endlessly and the oil converted into petrochemicals. Consequently, RECOVERIT is an outstanding environmentally friendly product and will revolutionize the way we clean up oil spills.

Australia patent No. PS1612
RECOVERIT is patent pending in over 150 countries worldwide.

PROPERTIES OF RECOVERIT THAT MAKES IT EVIRONMENTALLY AND ECONOMICALLY SUPERIOR

The properties of RECOVERIT listed below highlight why it is the environmentally and economically preferred material for cleaning up oil spills.

RECOVERIT IS A DRY NON-TOXIC NON-HAZARDOUS granule RECOVERIT is a white granule. Because of this property RECOVERIT is easy to apply to a spill. The granule is very similar in nature to dry snow where it just brushes off. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven that RECOVERIT is non-toxic and non-hazardous possessing no serious health risks. Also, RECOVERIT has been classed as Non-Flammable.

RECOVERIT CAN ADSORB UP TO 25 TIMES ITS OWN WEIGHT RECOVERIT granule is very light thus making it ideal for transportation by air. This allows for much faster response times. For instance, hydraulic oil has a 1:10 ratio for ocean spills. This means that 1kg of RECOVERIT will adsorb 10 Litres of oil. There are significant cost benefits through the combination of weight:recovery ratio and also being recyclable meaning you can recover much more with much less.

RECOVERIT IS HYDROPHOBIC AND OLIOPHILIC
RECOVERIT does not adsorb or absorb water. This makes it ideal for industrial separation of oil from water and oil from soils and sands. Refer to the Process Diagrams to view how this can be accomplished.

RECOVERIT FORMS A FLOATING BROWN GEL WHEN MIXED WITH OIL
When the RECOVERIT granule is mixed with oil, it forms a brown colored gel. The gel floats on water allowing for easy removal using an elevating device.

RECOVERIT IS BIODEGRADABLE UNDER UV LIGHT
Within several days, any remaining RECOVERIT granule will break down into water and ash when it is exposed to sunlight. This avoids a secondary environmental problem experienced with other products.

RECOVERIT GEL IS EASILY SEPARATED FROM THE OIL
When placed in a centrifuge at high speed, the RECOVERIT gel can be separated back into RECOVERIT granule (READY FOR REUSE) and oil (TO BE RECYCLED). Being able to reapply the RECOVERIT to the spill endlessly has significant cost savings for the cleanup operation. Furthermore, the recovered oil can be sold to an oil recycler.

THE SIX GREEN THUMBS OF RECOVERIT
Each item below outlines the environmental benefits of RECOVERIT in cleaning up oil spills.
NO DUMPING OF TOXIC MATERIAL
Nearly all oil spill clean up products are spent after first application and become toxic waste. The waste is then placed in landfill or toxic waste facilities. This is no answer because the problem is moved further down the chain. The RECOVERIT process does not produce waste of any kind due to its ability to recover the oil via the separation process. The bi-product of separation is pure RECOVERIT granule ready to be applied again. Thus, there is no wastage because the oil is recycled and the RECOVERIT granule has endless application.

RECYCLING THE OIL
After the oil has been separated from RECOVERIT, it is forwarded to an oil recycling plant for refinement into petrochemicals such as bio-diesel.

CLEANING SOILS AND BEACHES
There is no question that an oil spill destroys beaches and the devastating effects of this are experienced for years after. In particular, getting oil out of sand and soil is very difficult. However, RECOVERIT can help avoid such long lasting effects as it can lift the oil out of sand and soils in a water solution. Better still, RECOVERIT can be applied to a beach, hosed down and collected in the water allowing rapid clean up.

IT STILL WORKS WHEN IT RAINS
Unfortunately, oil spills can occur in unpleasant weather. Typically rain can enhance the problem with most clean up materials. This is because most of these materials absorb water. The net effect is a dirty, muddy sludge totally saturated with both water and oil. Since RECOVERIT does not absorb water whatsoever and remains afloat on water, it is totally unaffected by the rain and continues to work on the oil. Recoverit pillows can be embedded within drains to catch the oil as the water flows past.

REDUCED IMPACT ON WILDLIFE
The victims affected the most from natural disasters are the animals that live in that natural environment. When an oil spill takes hold, the local wildlife suffers greatly. This can cause major repercussions to marine and agricultural industries. RECOVERIT can help these creatures in many ways. RECOVERIT is not a severe health hazard. It is not likely to cause much harm if swallowed and after several days, any remaining RECOVERIT granule breaks down.
